Got Back In

Weirdness... Couldn't get back into my blog for a while, there. I finally figured out how so now when it happens again, if it happens, again I won't be trapped out.

It's warming up. Mid eighties, we have had to turn on the air in the afternoons, it isn't super hot around here but because of the way this place is built the sun bakes down on us and turns this place into an oven in the afternoon and the air makes it more pleasant so on it goes. Add to the heat the fact that Smoke Man insists on blowing his obnoxious cigarette smoke all over the place and I don't enjoy the "fresh air" so much.

I want to move. Seriously. I am over this condo. And, since we had Sabryna put to sleep (on March 29th) we don't have to stay here any longer. Not really and I want to start looking. Seriously looking and I want to move.

William keeps talking about getting another dog. I don't want another dog, right now. Not in this condo and honestly, I am just not ready to add another dog to the family at the moment. I still miss my Velcro dog too much. But Mr. Stubborn keeps looking at dogs online. *sigh* I told him that when we find and move into the house that I want... Largish, single level (I am over stairs, thankyouverymuch!) bells and whistles that I crave, all hard surface floors and a large, securely fenced back yard, we will get another dog. I think that is a fair compromise.

I am healed up from my laproscopic gallbladder removal that wasn't in March. Hell of a thing, a surgeon not being able to find a person's gallbladder. I am not too surprised, it was a remote possibility, as it couldn't be imaged on the studies before surgery or on the CAT scan I had after. So, I still have that malfunctioning piece of shit in my bod making me miserable, now and again. *sigh* If it goes critical, we'll have to deal with it but for now, I'm just going to leave it be. I have a good prescription anti nausea med that I can take from time to time when I need it and other than some discomfort from time to time, it isn't too bad. I can live with it, for now.

I had a nice chat with my mother, yesterday, I called to wish her Happy Mother's Day and we talked for a good while. She is doing pretty well. Feeling good. I am going to respect her privacy and not go into too much detail here, but she had some treatments and is receiving some others and has some upcoming. She feels good and has had some good results. I am overjoyed by this, and thrilled at how well and strong her voice sounded on the phone, yesterday. I am hopeful that she is going to be with us for a long time to come.

On the migraine front:

Imitrex: Fail
Propranalol: Fail
Topomax: The Jury is Out. It is promising, We'll see.

Bringer of the Gushy Food

Marley has no use for anyone, as cats tend to do. Unless it is 7:00 in the morning and he wants his gushy food. He awaits me at the top of the stairs, having heard me stirring around and getting up. As I come out of my room, the meowing begins. Insistent, demanding. Sometimes loud and strident, others, barely audible, rusty, baby kitten starving to death without the strength to create actual sound. He dogs my footsteps as I move around my kitchen, putting on the water for my coffee, taking my morning meds and vitamins, feeding the dog, getting Marley his crunchies.

Crunchies he doesn't want. In the morning, Marley is all about the gushy food. He gets a quarter of a can of Fancy Feast Classic in a seafood variety of some kind. He insists that all gushy food be seafood; he will eat chicken, beef, turkey cooked or raw but won't tolerate it in his gushy food. Picky little snot. Anyway, until I get that quarter can into a small ceramic dish, properly mushed and fluffed just so, served up on his windowsill, he doesn't back off. How many mornings have I almost killed myself tripping over his little orange ass as I stumble around the kitchen in my sleep induced haze? You would think that he would know better than to come within a mile of me before my first cup of coffee but the pull of the gushy food is too powerful and he is totally willing to risk bodily injury to nag me into feeding it to him even faster.

My head is bad, this morning. It's so nice to have a cold and a migraine at the same time, lemme tell ya.

I remembered to move my hair appointment. This way I won't bring the plague in and infect everyone at the salon. I'm such an angel. I had to book for the seventeenth. I have roots-a-plenty now. My hair is going to look seriously jacked up by the middle of the month. *sigh* Oh well. That is what I get for having one of the most popular stylists in town. I get why she is in so high demand, she is good. And she respects how I feel about my hair. She never breathes a word of complaint about working with my masses of tresses, she never tries to pressure me into chopping my hair and she is happy to work with me as I grow it ever longer. And she doesn't charge me outrageous amounts of money. A roots touch up and tone is sixty-five bucks. Not bad for a higher end salon and the fact that my hair is thick and past my waist and needs precise attention to get just the right shade of blonde and not destroy the structural integrity of all of this hair. She is a treasure and it would be worth it at twice the price. My wallet is happy that it isn't that much, tho.

I wonder of those little fabric hoses are really as good as the commercials say they are? I should look up reviews and see what people are saying. They look good... And would be so handy to have around. I hate using the big, heavy hose we have, I'd love something lightweight and easy to handle.

It smells like pumpkin and spice in here, thanks to that candle. It must be strong for me to be able to smell it with my racked up beak.

Time's Fun When You're Having Flies

I meant to blog more often this week but every time I thought about it I didn't have time and when I had time, I was off in another world in my head and well... Yeah. Proof, once again that I suck.

So, did I ever talk about how my husband is the pushover of the world? I mean, just look as Marley. William hated cats. He met Marley, when he was just a tiny, wild thing living outside. I started feeding him and the next thing you know, William is coming home with fancy canned food and toys and a cat bed and a blanket for the little guy. And the moment he came in, one phone call netted a brand new litter box and litter and more toys and the cat hater was the cat lover. lol And he still adores Marley, to this day.

So, Mr. Soft Touch, Sucker of the Year and I decided to sell the Jeep and use the proceeds as a down payment on a different vehicle. Since our credit is crapola on a stick, thanks to being freshly out of a BK, we have to put down some money to get financed and we will be a little limited in our choices, this time around. But, in the future, as out credit improves, we will have more options. So, time to start at the bottom and work up, again.

Anywhoozles, the Jeep was listed for 1,750. A fair price, it wasn't new, by any means but it was a good, solid, dependable SUV, had imperfect but intact paint, no rust or dents and it was clean and had icy cold A/C (a real boon, in this neck of the woods). We got call on it and William and the man went around a bit about price and payment. The guy is having a bit of a tough time and is about to relinquish his present vehicle back to his lender and he really needed something else. At first, they agreed on 1,500. I thought it was fair and William was even going to let the guy pay $500 three times, park the Jeep in the garage and hold the funds until it was fully paid, to make it easier for the guy to buy it. Well, somehow that kind of fell through but then he called back late this afternoon and said that he was able to scrape together a thousand.

Here is where Mr. Soft Touch came back to life. And decided to just sell the Jeep to the guy for a thousand. Seven hundred and fifty dollars less than the asking price.

Sucker.

Soft touch.

Compassionate.

Empathetic.

Did the right thing.

And I am proud of him.

The sucker.

The buyer got the vehicle he very much needed and we have a grand towards our down payment. We'll have to come up with a little more but it's doable.

I just hope that William didn't get played. I don't think that he did. I don't get that feeling and I usually get feelings about people and situations. I was hoping to have the full down payment we needed and a few extra clams. There were some cute workout clothes on the Avenue site I kinda had my heart set on. They were even on sale, dang it. Oh well. I'll just go with what I have and it's all good.

We have been a little bit busy getting some projects done and doing the shopping and looking around at new places to live and so forth. We found one place that would have been terrific. Hardwood floors, three nice sized bedrooms, two baths, lovely kitchen, larger living room, pretty master suite for a very affordable rent (for this area, especially) but it was AAO. We could probably have talked them into letting us have the cat but the dog would have been out of the question. A couple of other possibilities also fell through for that reason. Also, Sabryna is having some tough days and we think that trying to move her would just be too hard for her to take so we have decided to just hang here until she throws off this mortal coil. She doesn't have too terribly long and we just want her remaining days to be as comfortable, happy and peaceful as possible. After she has moved on, we will begin the hunt, again. When the time is right something will turn up. It always does. And it is more important to us that Sabryna has this time in peace and comfort.

It has been mad windy all day today and it is supposed to be windy tomorrow and only in the mid sixties. Must have a little low moving through. As far as I know we aren't supposed to get any rain. Just wind and a few clouds. The cool break will be nice. The wind and cooler temps are lovely and I like not having to run the A/C.

William goes back to work on Tuesday. It hasn't been too heinous having him around but I am looking forward to the return of my peaceful and routine days.

I wonder if Draz did BYOC this week? I'll have to go reading and find out.

Oops.

I forgot to take my food pics, yesterday. Geeze. What a forgetful dork I am. My day was... Okay-ish. Not as good as it should have or would have been but not a total fail, either. With my complete lack of doing anything right, lately, I'll take it, since I have been sucking so hard, lately.

Today is going very well and I am remembering to grab my camera. Yay me. ?

William gave the dog a bath, today. Boy did that stanky old biotch need it. She smells so much better, now and isn't fouling the air in my house. lol She looks nice, too. All fluffy and soft and pretty. And pissed off. That dog hates water with a velvet passion. Oh, she'll drink the stuff but she doesn't want it applied to her body.

We received a letter from out Trustee, today. He has concluded our case and has no more say over our financial decisions. We can now make a purchase or whatever we want. We are waiting to receive our discharge and the letter from the court. that should take 45 to 60 days. I am hoping that it will be sooner. I am happy that we are finished with this phase, now. We just have a little more, waiting for the court to discharge then close out case and we will be finished, once and for all.

I swear, I am not doing this, again. Bankruptcy sucks eggs. Ass. Big green donkey dicks.

I think I am going to go do a little shopping, later. I need a few things and I want to see if Ross has any of the Color Club polishes I am looking for. I also want to pop into Big Lots. I read on a blog that some stores have some Philosophy cosmetics and Revlon polish duos of the Summer collection I missed out on last year, thanks to my local drugstores being dickheads and not ordering them. Maybe I'll get lucky. I love a good bargain hunt. :D

My hair is drying... I don't know what I am going to do with it. probably a braided updo. Something loose and easy and soft. Anchored with a Ficcare, maybe. :D

It's a Dog! It's a Crocodile!

Turn on your speakers! Click play! Awesomeness!

Is it January or is it March? I have to ask because right at this moment, I have no idea. As long as it isn't snowing, you aren't going to hear me bitch and moan about it. I do feel that we should get some precip, tho because fire season is going to be a bitch, otherwise.

Larry the Cable Guy is an insult to all people who work for cable companies, everywhere. Just saying.

So, good day, today. The last couple weren't so much. I didn't blow it too bad but didn't hold my target range and I am so pissed at myself. Man, I should have this shit in the bag, have it so under control. I should be sailing. Why am I struggling? Why am I still trying to get it out of first gear? I suppose I'll know when I fugure it out. *pfffft!* I suck.

This time last year, I was sailing along on a cloud of fabulous and this? I am stuck in the mud and questioning everything. Myself, most of all. I don't know. I do know that it is bullshit. And that I need to pull and keep my head out of my ass because just yammering about it isn't getting the job done. To do that I actually have to frakking do. It. Yep. That one bears repeating. I just have to frakking do it. Yes, spell check, frakking is so a word! So stick that in your dictionary and smoke it.

Stupid Firefox spell check, anyway. Did you know that it doesn't work in the title box? How ass up dumb is that, I ask you?

I think that exercise would help. Hmmm? And why the hell am I wasting all of this perfect for walking weather? I don't know. Again. Time to get my head out of my ass and just do it.

My dog thinks that she is a crocodile. Really, she does. The other night, I was sitting here, chowing on dinner and Sabryna was doing the mooch thing. Marley was over by the dining table (yes, we eat in the living room. We are horrible people.) and he must have made a move as if he were thinking about coming in this direction, thus possibly coming between Sabryna and whatever prime tidbit I would toss to her, next. That stiff old woman who can just make it around, most days wheeled on her hind legs, like a streak was across the room (granted, it isn't a large room, this condo is tiny) and on that cat, jaws snapping like a crocodile. Marley took off, shot across the room, went behind my sofa, then came out the other end and huddled in a ball, over by the fireplace where Sabryna couldn't get to him. And he stayed there for more than an hour.

Damn cat just never learns.

I found the best doo-dad for smoothing my feet! I was in Bed Bath and Beyond just after Christmas and in the very tiny, in my local store, beauty section was this thing called Silk Feet. It is a flexible sanding grit (120) mesh oval banded with soft plastic. It is super mouldable to your feet and it works a regular treat. I have feet from hell. Seriously. I have to keep lotion and Vaseline and socks on all of the time or my feet go from feet to nasty, hard, hooves.

I don't know anyone who can get a dry skin buildup on their feet like I can. And I have used just about every kind of smoothing contraption you can think of. Ped-Egg. Metal foot files. Foot files with diamond. Sandpaper kind. Super grit stone. Pumice. Scrubs. This little gadget trumps them all. It is easy to use. Comfortable. It really works and, unlike Ped-Egg or other files, leaves my skin smooth, not abraded and rough. Best seven bucks I ever spent and the moment it starts feeling a little worn down, I am back in there to get me another one. I use that Silk Feet and  then put on lotion and Vaseline and socks and my feet are so much better. I may actually wear sandals, this Summer. :D

I received my Book of Shadows palette in the mail on Saturday. Oh, golly! It's lovely. And the shadows are splendid. Almost all of them are velvety, silky and beautifully pigmented.  I am not too wild about a couple, especially Midnight Rodeo. Too glittery, even for me. But overall, I am tickled pink with it and I am so glad that I splurged on it.

I also, the other day went into CVS. I was after cotton rounds. Nothing else. Just cotton rounds. Yeah. Right. Out I came with my cotton rounds, five new eye shadows and a lipstick. I had to get three of the new Loreal Infallible shadows (now I want more colours! They are faaaaabulous!), two of the Maybelline Color Tattoo creme shadows, (like them too... Surprising, since I don't usually like maybelline makeup in the least. Need more colours) and a beautiful Revlon Color Burst lipstick in Crimson. Hey, that was on clearance and I have been searching all season for my perfect red lipstick. And I think that I finally found it! And wouldn't you know... It is a now discontinued shade! Just my luck! lol No worries. I don't wear red lipstick all of the time, so this tube should last me a while.

I didn't buy any polish, that day. Weird. Must have had a temporary fever. William was surprised. I came out to the car with my little bag of goodies and showed him what I got, swatched the Loreal shadows on my hand (don't tell me you never swatch your new goodies in the car! I won't believe you. lolol) and William asked me, "What, no polish?" Nope. Not that trip. :D

Okay, I guess that is all I have to yap about, right now. My head is down to a dull roar, finally. Thank. God. I was getting a little desperate, there for a while. I actually took something to try to dull it a bit. I always hesitate to take anything for my head because I pay for the slight, temporary relief with a hella rebound.

I could go for a nice, dry vodka martini, right now. Ice cold, straight up, desert dry, three olives. *slurp!*

A Squandered Year

2011. I squandered it. It was my own choice... No one held a gun to my head. I wasn't forced. I made my own choices. Some were good. More weren't so much. I know that i am a few pounds heavier. Closer to 300, again. I don't think that I am over that mark. I need to get a new battery for my scale, grow a pair and step on it and find out for sure. I can still fit into my jeans so I know that I didn't do a terrible amount of damage to myself.

But I did damage. And in more ways than just a number on the scale. I allowed some of my old, injurious behaviours to take control and I allowed my self to indulge in self abuse. I punished myself and hated myself. I inflicted more damage, rather than working so hard toward healing. And I wasted a whole year. Rather than moving steadily toward my goal for 2011, I went steadily away from it. And yes, I am angry with myself for it.

I can't change that. That is the past. This is now and I have the power to move forward. To set a goal and to achieve it. I can do this. I know that I can. Hell... I have. I mean, I am down over a hundred pounds from my all time high weight so I am aware that I have it in me to thrive and to make this happen. I need to remember to feed off if that; to feed off of my past success, to build it and nurture it and myself.

I have to keep reminding myself that I am worthy.

I have had a very good few days. Not stellar but good. And I have gotten some exercise and I feel better, this morning. A little smaller, by body has that squishy, shrinking feeling to it. I like that feeling. :D I like it a lot. And I want it to continue.

I am setting my goals for 2012. Not resolutions. Goals. I would like to make it to 250 by the first of July and I want to hit Onderland by the end of this year. I want to ring in 2013 with a one as the first number on my scale.

I am setting a goal to post in this blog, regardless of what kind of day I am having. No more chickening out and neglecting the part of me that needs this blog, anyown who might read it and the interaction of like minded people. I need to get support and I need to give it. I need to reach out, not withdraw. I have learned, over the last year that getting cocky, thinking I am all that then pulling back and hiding when things get ugly is not how I am going to reach my goals and nurture and nourish the most important part of me. I also realize that withdrawing my support and care of my bloggy buddies is doing them injury as well. And that is just as unfair to them as it is to me.

This New Year is starting out with the most beautiful weather you can imagine for this part of the world. Temps in the upper sixties, even seventy. Record highs. Sunshine, soft breezes. I fear that March, which usually brings weather like this will be cold, blustery and dump a ton of snow on our asses. Now, wouldn't that be a gas? :P I am not complaining about these gorgeous days, tho. I am sure that Old Man Winter still has some tricks up his sleeve... I very much doubt that we will get no more Winter but it it is warmer and milder and we get rain, rather than snow that will be just fine with me.

Marley is sitting in a bundle, a couple of feet from Sabryna and just staring at her. Stupid cat just doesn't learn. He just doesn't get that in another life that dog was a crocodile. *shrugs* He's fast. That seems to be his only saving grace because I fear that like most males on this planet, speed is all that can save him when his lack of brains can't.

Women should rule the world.

Seriously.

Old Dogs

We can be taught new tricks. Might take us a little while to get it, but we can learn. Yes we can. For instance, I learned, through uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox that it wasn't the program that was the problem. Turns out it was my bookmarks. They had been corrupted when my original  version of Firefox got corrupted and crashed. I saved my bookmarks, thinking that the program was flawed. But every version of Firefox I tried gave me the same problem and I finally figured out that I needed to dump my bookmarks (waaah!!! Now I have to build a new list of bookmarks) and then install Firefox all over again.

And now it all works as it should.

Yepper. Just call me tech support. But don't call me because I can't help you. But now I have this profile attached to this browser again and am able to follow new blogs and so forth, again. Can't do that with Chrome, as that browser is attached to my other profile. Yes, each blog/profile has it's own browser. My profiles are oh-so-exclusive.

So, Frost Princess got out the other day... For a while. Sneaky bitch got past my Dragon. Don't now how. But I caught her and tossed her back in. She had damned well better stay there. I hope that I have a better number on the scale, tomorrow morning. Blech.

I think that the Monsoon is drawn to a close. It is less humid and clear. We have had the first harbingers of Autumn, around here. Cooler night time temps and chilly mornings. I have had to turn off fans in the morning and even closed the windows a couple of mornings. Marley tried to talk me into a fire, two mornings ago but it isn't quite that chilly. lol

I was up just before six. Couldn't go back to sleep so I got up, did a few little things, got my coffee going, put Sabryna out to do her business, fed the cat... That sort of thing. Made my coffee and Sabryna went into my laundry room to drink water then barfed it out all over the floor. So back out she went and William had to get up and clean the floor. Yeah. Mama doesn't do barf. :P Poor baby girl. Some days her tummy is just urpy. Some days she is fine. She has always been that way. Sweet dog. Good dog. Smart, loyal dog. Has a bad tummy. She is getting so old. She gets tanglefooted, slips on the kitchen floor, looses her balance, the other day she had a terrible time getting up off the floor. She sleeps a lot. More than she used to. She is winding down. I hate it when dogs get old.

Let's see... Anything else going on? Nope. Not really. I have some laundry to do and I want to swatch some polishes for my other blog. That's about it. Yepper. Boring. That is my life.

Golden Tuesday Morning

'Sup?

Somehow I missed posting, yesterday. I got busy and didn't get here. I ate pretty well, calories were under control. I drank all of my water and then some. I was a little sodium loaded and thought a good washout was in order, so six quarts down. *slosh*

I have received a few questions on how I drink so much water. It isn't too difficult, once you get into the rhythm. I keep my drinking water at room temperature. Very cold water is lovely and refreshing but it doesn't go down so easily for me. I get brain freeze and a tight throat when I try to down large quantities of very cold water. So, room temp it is.I keep two very large tumblers going at once and I drink with a straw. Yes, using a straw consistently is as bad for the lip lines as smoking but slugging down huge amounts of water by tipping a glass is harder than sucking it through a straw. I measure and keep track by pouring my water into a two quart pitcher. Two and a half pitchers down and I am done.

When you slurp, you pee. A. Lot. And at first it is excruciating. Constant toilet runs. Sometimes every ten minutes or so. And at night? Forget about a solid night's sleep for at least a few nights. lol But, if you keep at it, if you keep drinking, in time your bod begins to adjust. Soon bathroom runs get further and further apart. You pee more each time you go but you go a little less often. And after a while you can sleep through the night, again. Or at least are up just once. Since I usually get up to pee in the wee (no pun intended ;)) hours to pee, anyway it isn't disturbing to me.

The more water you drink, consistently, the more your body demands to feel properly hydrated. Yes, drinking so much is a job. A big job. But I feel so much better, I have a little more energy, my skin looks and feels better and it has the added advantage of keeping my mouth busy so I am not so focused on chowing down. Win-win.

So, chickadees, get big jugs of clean, filtered water, set one on your counter, get out your biggest tumblers and a straw and get to chugging. It isn't easy, especially at first. But it is doable. And the benefits to your bod far outweigh the temporary difficulties of getting used to it. Trust me. :D

Poor Sabryna is sick, this morning. She keeps eating grass and throwing up. Poor baby girl. She is having a really rough morning. These episodes are hitting her more frequently than they used to. I think it is just part of her ageing process. She will get over it, in a bit. Right now, she is safely outside, where she can blow without making a mess on my floor. Yuk.

It is so quiet in here. William went to work early this morning and Patrick just left a few minutes ago. I have my DVR on pause while I finish typing this entry and the dog is outside. I suddenly became aware of the silence and heaved a big sigh and just relaxed.

Okay, I need to get going. I want to read blogs and catch up in what is going on in everyone's lives and I have a few things to get done. Thankfully, no laundry, today. :P

Happy December :D

Good morning, all. I hope that you awoke to this new month full of purpose and with a smile.

I am full of purpose. But not smiling. I slept like shit. Had to get up and pee at least three times (stupid sodium bloat bidding me bye-bye) my cat hacked up under my bed (gross!) and my dog barfed all over my laundry room floor (super gross!). I had my son get the dog barf, this morning. I couldn't bear the thought of it. Bleargh!

I need a vacation. Somewhere warm and isolated. A beach... A white sugar sand beach... The ocean softly gliding up and tickling my toes... A big, huge umbrella... A lounger piled with cushions... A little side table... A good book and a cabana boy to bring me tall, frosty, fruity, exotic drinks and caramels and cater to my every whim and give me pedicures. No... Make that an entire flock of cabana boys to bring me tall, frosty, fruity, exotic drinks and caramels and cater to my every whim and give me pedicures. (Do cabana boys run in flocks???) No husband, no son, no dog, no cat, no housework, no frakking cooking, no puke. The jet leaves at five. Anyone who wants to come with, be packed and at the private airport at four. :D (In my fantasies, I always fly private! ;))

*sigh*

I love that Tassimo Brew Bot commercial. That adorable little bot makes me want one of those coffee makers.

Woah! I just realised that Hanukkah begins tonight. For everyone who celebrates,

*** Happy Hanukkah! ***

For the record, I celebrate Christmas. All month long. (Duh! :D) And I say Merry Christmas. If you celebrate another holiday, just tell me so and I will cheerfully wish you a Happy *insert your choice of holiday, here*. I am easy. I love holidays and I love to celebrate and I am perfectly happy to jump all over all kinds of holidays. :D

Okay. Time for another cup of wake up juice. And some brekkie. And maybe a search for some cutsie animated Christmas images to add to my blog. 'Cause I don't have it decorated enough, yet. :P

Too Early

My brain is foggy my eyes aren't yet focusing properly. I don't do mornings. Yet, here I sit, fingers dancing slowly, clumsily across my keyboard in an attempt to type something, anything that could be described as vaguely coherent. And I seem to be succeeding, to some extent. I gotta tell ya, sometimes I fucking amaze myself.

Coffee will help.

My dog had to go out at six-thirty. Six frakking thirty. And not to just take a fast pee... Oh, no! She had to stay out there, using her beak all over the place, sniffing and looking and thinking about it and moving on until she found just the right spot in which to bunch up and take a crap. Dude, women don't take as long to find the perfect wedding dress as that dog does finding the perfect place to drop a deuce.

It was crisp, this morning but not outright cold. The sky was a deep slate blue, turning lighter blue in the East, gossamer wisps of cloud were deep pink and orchid and nestled in them was the merest sliver of a crescent moon. In the West it was still dark enough to see Orion, riding high above the horizon. The light breeze pushed the early morning chill right through my lightweight cotton robe and nightshirt, reminding me that, in spite of the warm days, it is Fall.

I have decided not to weigh, today. I am a puffy mess. There is no point and I don't feel like putting myself through all the mental torture. I'll wait until my ankles return to a more normal state and get to it. I feel smaller, tho so I know that fat is leaving me. That is good enough, for now.

My vision is beginning to clear a bit. I might just be waking up. Caffeine... It is a miracle. A true miracle.

I think I am going to do eggs for brekkie, this morning. I notice I snack more (salt... hence the puffiness :P) when I have Cream of Wheat. Hmmm... Interesting.

My headstorm is calming a bit. I have hopes that today will be a bit more pleasant. :D

Okay, 'nuff of this shit. I need to drink moar coffee and read blogs. See what all you fine people are up to, this morning.

Okay. Later, gators. :D

An Orange Stalker

My cat did indeed attach himself to me, tonight. I baked some fish for my dinner and Marley was soooo happy. And excited. He devoured every bit I decided to share with him. And came around, looking for more.

I decided to make butternut squash fries to go with dinner, tonight. Okay, I have never, in my born days worked with butternut squash, before. Dayum! That shit is hard as a rock. I actually had to use a kitchen towel on top of my knife blade to protect my hand from the back of the blade as I pushed it through the squash. It took a lot of time to halve, cut the ends off of, seed, cut into eighths, peel and cut into strips that squash. But, after tossing them in some Pam and seasoned salt, laying them out on their foil lined and sprayed cookie sheets and baking them off, the work was worth it. Yum! So tasty. I made the fries too thin and they had to be eaten with a fork, but I don't care, they still tasted wonderful. Next time I will cut them thicker. :D

Husband and Son had Icky Willy Chili with macaroni for dinner. *shudders* I don't know how they can eat that shit. Seriously, it is bad. Really bad. Want the recipe? Just brown hamburger with some diced onion. Then add a can of tomato soup (condensed, no water) and a can of kidney beans with the slimy, gooey, barf inducing juice into the pot and stir it all up. You can add some chili powder to turn it into "real" chili. Simmer for a while and chow down.

*gag*

Oh! Allen wanted to know just how cold it could get in Arizona. Actually, Allen, Arizona has a lot of different climates. It isn't all flat, low desert, sand, cacti and Gila monsters. I think that the impression that most people have of this state is that it is all like that. But it isn't. Arizona has varied topography and many climates ranging from low desert to high mountains. There is high desert, high valleys, foothills, mountains and magnificent tall pine forest. Elevations range from below sea level to over eight thousand feet. Climates and temperatures from mild to searing hot to bone freezing cold. We have endlessly sunny days and snow. Killer humidity and winds so cold that they will freeze a bucket or bowl of water left outside solid in less than an hour. Prescott, in north central Arizona is in forested foothill country. We sit at 5000 feet, our climate is pretty much temperate, tho we have more than the average of sunny days. We get spectacular thunderstorms in the Summer (we call them Monsoons) and in the Winter, snow is a frequent visitor to the area. Temps can drop into the teens, even single digits, during cold snaps at night. But it usually warms up a little during the day. Snow can get deep but melts away swiftly. In the Summer, 90s is normal, tho we get into the hundreds, too.

My biggest gripe with this state is the unrelenting sunshine. We see blue sky, sunshine every day. A 24 hour period without at least some blue sky/sunshine is rare. And I love dark, grey, windy days filled with rain and gloom. All this sunshine is fucking depressing. lol

Tomorrow is Hallowe'en.

Just say NO!!!! To candy!

Speaking of candy... Hubbs brought home a bag just in case we get any little costumed bandits ringing our doorbell. He bought fun sized Skittles. Made me think of Draz when I saw it. :D

Let's see... Food is really good, today. I am solidly on track. I should have, could have gone for a walk but I flaked. I'll have to get out there, tomorrow, provided I feel up to it.

Okay I guess that is all I have to babble about, tonight.

Everybody Loves a Freebie

I know that I do. Especially if that freebie might just help make getting my two quarts of water a day down my piehole a little more easy. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't mind water. But I like a little flavour even better. And I very much enjoy a hint of lemon. Which is what True Lemon offers. A little lemon for your water, tea or whatever. In convenient take with you packets to tuck into your handbag or pocket or a desk drawer.

I have been meaning to buy and try this stuff but I keep forgetting to grab it when I am at the store. So, imagine my delight when I clicked on Jen's blog and saw a link for a FREE SAMPLE! Now I can try it out before I buy. And so can you. Go ahead. Click the link. You know that you want to.

In other news, in spite of my roller coaster, waaahhh, poor little me, pissy brat, puff monster week, I got on my scale this morning. Puffy legs and all and had a drop of .6 pound. Not stellar, but it was a drop, not a bounce and that was in spite of my puff. I am grateful. And I know that fat has gone bye-bye, since I weight less, even with my bloaty-ness. :)

My attitude seems to be better. I feel more optimistic, this morning. The dark cloud that was hovering over me and pulling my mood down and screwing with my head seems to be clearing out and I am not so whiny, down on myself and pessimistic. I still have some more work to do but I am in a better place.

Support. It works.

And it is here, for all of us. All we have to do is ask.

I am so glad that I asked.

And that I can be here when someone else does so.

It is cold, this morning. It was 30 degrees, when I got out of bed. The temp has climbed to 33. But it is supposed to be sunny and 71 degrees, for a high, today. My cat is blissing out in front of my fireplace. He sure does like to soak up the warm.

Okay, I need another cup of crack coffee. And I think I will go read up on new entries in my blogroll and see what you are all up to, this fine morning.

Later, gators.

Smoke, Rising

I don't like seeing smoke rising. I grew up in NorCal and have had experience with forest fire and thick, rising smoke means everything bad and frightening to me. We lived out in Highland Pines (out in the direction from which the smoke today is coming) for almost five years and if we were still living out there, I would be freaking the hell out, right now.

Every time there was a fire, every time I saw smoke I would start running through my bug out plans. I would gather leash and carrier, pet food, get my document organizers out and ready to grab, shut down my laptop and put it in it's bag and put it and my purse and keys by the front door. I would shower, put on my makeup, do my hair and dress, so that I wouldn't look like a refugee, should we have to run. And the whole time I would be praying pleasedon'tletitbeafire!Pleasedon'tletitbeafire! We were lucky, every time I readied to run, there was no reason to do so. But I am done with being afraid. I am done living in the trees. I love, love, love living in town. :D

I won't be walking, tonight. No, my hip is fine. But before you blast me, let me 'splain, Lucy. I have asthma. I am lucky, it is chronic, not acute, so I don't take daily controller meds but I can and do have attacks. Mine are triggered by environmental factors, smoke, smog, chemical fumes, humidity. Stress can also do me. And I just don't relish the thought of trying to do two miles in this smokey air. Collapsing by the side of the road and lying there while paramedics pump me full of oxygen and drugs isn't exactly my idea of a lovely evening. lol The last time I had a major attack, I was working in Laughlin. I went downstairs while I was on break and someone was mopping the employee dining room with a very strong bleach solution. Next thing you know, yours truly is gasping like a beached whale, the paramedics had to be called and I got to leave work early. In an ambulance. Do Not Want. lol

I am still doing laundry. Yay. I am down to three loads. Some sweaters, Some regular darks and a load of fleeces. I didn't realise until I went through everything how much fleece I own. lol I have four jackets, my "new" vest, a long robe. That doesn't include the micro-fleece (soooo soft!) warmie tops I already washed and hung up in my closet.  I should be plenty cozy and warm, this Winter.

I suppose some mention of how my day is going, eating wise might be in order, since this is, first and foremost a weight loss blog. Calories are good. I am sitting at 710, so far. I am nicely satisfied and not hungry. That is thanks to the lovely hunk of grilled chicken I nommed for lunch. I had it with grilled Summer squash. I could eat grilled squash almost every day.

Say, have you tried a grilled apple? I was prepping food to grill the other night and was casting around, looking for stuff to grill and my eyes fell on a ripe, red delicious apple. At first I thought, naw! It wouldn't work. Then I thought, why not try? So, I quartered and cored it, sprayed it lightly with Pam and tossed it on my grill. It got a blackened in spots, which wasn't bad, as those spots just slid right off and the fruit underneath was perfectly cooked. It was scrumptious.

I think that my dog and my cat should be very afraid. ^^ lol ;)

My, I am chatty, today...

Wet Pet

Sabryna had a nice bath, today then spent some time out on the deckony, getting dry. She has such a thick, heavy coat that it takes her a long time to dry completely after her bath. She is in now (yes, when she was out to dry she had shade, water and she was wet and there was a breeze, she was just fine :)) and still very damp in spots. She looks much better, smells good and is madder than a wet hen. She will wake up from her nap, turn to me and give me the hairy eyeball. Even tho Husband was the one who drenched her smelly ass. lol

Here she is, all wet.

A Couple of Manis and a Really Pretty Day and Stuff

Hi everyone. I hope that you are all well.

I am feeling a bit better. My migraine has calmed a bit and I am doing better, today. I am planning to get out for my walk in a little bit. I am just waiting for the sun to go down, I'll take off around a quarter to seven.

I am on track. I am doing better calorie wise than yesterday. Thursdays are always a bit high for me. Not drastically so, I don't go off the rails or anything. I just don't keep it as low as I like.

I have noticed that my binge impulses are coming on less and less often. Will I ever be completely free of them? I don't think so. I think, to a certain extent, things like that become hard wired and can't be completely shut off after they do. I know that I have ot, even now be vigilant about my occasional impulse to smoke. I quit smoking sixteen years ago and I am happy that I did and I have no desire to ever return to that pattern of behaviour. But, I do admit, that when things get rough or I need to calm down, I think, briefly and longingly of having a cigarette. Just one, to get me over the hump. Yeah... Not going to happen. Ever. But I do have the thoughts, now and again.

Hard wired.

I haven't given in to a binge impulse in a while, now. I don't like to count days... It makes me feel pressure and then I want to alleviate that pressure by binging. lol How effed up is that? lol But even tho I am not giving in, I know that if I do, it could cause me to spin severely out of control. And I don't want to go there. I am hoping that as time goes by and controlling the urge becomes easier, something I just do, rather than have to fight, I won't have the feeling that I will go off the rails. I am trying very hard to learn to trust myself.

I don't want this to be a fight. I don't want to have to white knuckle it and works so. damned. hard. in the future.

Does that make any sense?

Okay, so... Nails. I haven't posted a couple of mani pics so here they are. :D

This was my mani for the last few days. Orly Snowcone topped with China Glaze Fairy Dust. This mani was a lot prettier in person than it photographed. Snowcone is a beautiful Summer sky blue and Fairy Dust is a magical silver holographic glitter. You can see the holo in the pic of the bottle. :D

I am currently rocking a French. Sally Hansen White On for the tips and OPI Hearts and Tarts for the pink. This is my all time favourite sheer pink. It is very soft and natural looking and has the barest hint of opalescence in the right light. I love, love, love this polish. If I have to do a fast one coater to get out the door in a rush, I reach for this one. I wore it while rehabing my nails after I destroyed them and I love it for a French. My little heart will break if OPI ever discontinues this colour. Methinks I need a backup bottle. :D

I like this manicure but, boy! What a pain in the ass it was to apply and to get dry. Frenches always are. One big reason why I so rarely do my own. I did this mani this morning and it is still a tad dentable. And it won't last long, either. My French always chips madly and fast. *sigh* So much work for such a short life. lol

Forgot to mention what a gorgeous day it is, didn't I? Well it is. In the seventies, a breeze to keep one comfortable and brilliantly sunny. The birdies are chirping like crazy and keeping my cat endlessly entertained. :D

Just a Fast One, This Evening

Hey everyone. I hope that you are all having a terrific day.

Mine is okay. I am on track, which is good. But I have a raging migraine and chose not to walk, today. I feel horribly guilty and my dog keeps looking at me like, "Well, Mama, when are we going?" I just couldn't.

It pisses me off that headaches can so disrupt my life the way mine do.

I am going to read some blogs then shut my puter down for the night. The light from my TV is making my head insane. lol

Goodnight, loves.

Okay... I am an Unobservant Idiot lol

The road that I walk on is Buckskin... Not Buckhorn. Geeze, Erika, read a sign, why don't you? lol

Sabryna and I took our sojourn up to the green mailbox up on Buckskin Road and turned around and glided downhill all the way home, That walk takes me about twenty minutes and it is about what I can safely do, right now. I want to push myself but I want to do it smart, not end up having a heart attack by the side of the road. A part of me feels as if I am cheating hauling it back all downhill but, I figure at my weight, I am working my body, whether i am hauling it uphill, downhill or on the level. lol

It was a lovely evening. The air was soft and warm, the sun was just down so that I didn't have to worry about protection. Irises are in full bloom here, right now and they are just everywhere. Mostly purple but every now and then you see a yellow or white flag amongst the purple. Lilacs are just starting to bloom and their soft, sweet scent mixed with the yummy smells coming from some one's grill. A young woman, watched by her baby in a carrier and a fat, black cat was clearing a flowerbed outside her home. The sweet voice of the infant's happy babble floated to my ears on a light, cooling breeze. Sabryna paused and woofed, softly when she saw the cat then we moved on, I taking in the sights and sounds around me, my dog looking for her next spot to jerk me to a sudden stop to sniff and squat.

I think I had a slightly easier tome of this walk, today. I had to take fewer rest stops to allow my heart rate to slow a bit before I moved on. I am thinking that in the next few weeks, I might be ready to go down the small downhill and then the next long, hard uphill slog past the green mailbox. I would like to work up to a solid hour of walking. I just wish it were flatter, around here. I admit that I hate hiking uphill. I breathe so hard and loud, my heart pounds and I just know that I look like something so totally pathetic and gross, going along. I try not to let myself think about it and I tell myself that noone is looking out their window or gives a rat's ass about me or my fat climbing laboriously up the road.

Sabryna is really enjoying these walks. I start getting ready and she is dancing around, rearing to go. :D

Other than my walk, my day has been good,. I am on track, in control and calm minded. I spent some time doing my vary favourite thing in the world.

No.

Not that.

I got to empty out and scrub down my fridge. Oh. Joy. *sarcasm*

I grab a dish towel and some cleaner and spritz and swish and wipe it down on a regular basis so it doesn't turn into a Superfund Site in there. But every now and then, probably more often than I am really willing to do it, it needs to have all the shelves removed, washed and scrubbed and the cabinet scrubbed and polished. I rearranged the shelves to better suit how we use the fridge and I must say, it looks quite fab. And it is far more functional for us, too. :D

Okay, Husband is in want of the TV, so I must spell check and sign off. I'll hopefully have more time online, tomorrow so I can read blogs and catch up with everyone.

Good night, all. :D

Walking the Dog

So, I decided to get off my fat ass and take a walk. Not easy, around here. We live on a hill and all the roads around us are hills. Bleargh! A lot of work. But, I think that is the point, actually. lol

Anyhoo... Sabryna and I were clear of the easement road that runs behind our condo and were on Ridge Road and a man was jogging towards us. I moved over and tightened up on Bad-Ass-Protector-Guard Dog  (har har) and prepared to pass. He said hello to me. I was so. Stunned that I almost couldn't reply.

People who are fit and jogging don't talk to fat, old broads with old dogs puffing their way up the road.

Do they?

Sabryna and I walked up Ridge Road to the curve into Buckhorn (we are sooo Western, out here... *rolling my eyes*) and up Buckhorn-hard slog up!- to the flat and on to the green mailbox then home. The return is all downhill. A blissful reward for the hard pull uphill all the way out.

The walk took about twenty-five minutes, including stopandsniffandsquat sessions for the dog.

I feel pretty good, if my legs are a bit on the sore side. I need to keep doing this. :D

Asymmetrical Eyebrows

They really bother me. My eyebrows. A small, silly thing, I know. But they just bug the snot out of me. I have fairly symmetrical features, overall. But my brows are really futzed up, thanks to an accident I had when I was a child. I actually lost my entire eyebrow and my doctor told my mother that if it grew back, not to expect it to look like it's mate. It doesn't. It is higher, the hair is finer and lighter and the shape is not the same as the other one. I deal by plucking both of my brows down to the minimum and reshaping them with brow powder and setting it with gel. Takes a century to do but I am pretty happy with the results.

It occurred to me today that there are a lot of really gorgeous gals out there with mismatched eyebrows. And they don't seem to bother them all that much. Now, I am hardly gorgeous but if they can rock the funky brows, why can't I? Maybe I should just learn to live with my oddball brows. Shape them the best I can, enhance them with a little powder and gel and let their freak flag fly.

Maybe... :D

I wish that blogs had smilies.

My dog is getting older. Sabryna is an Aussie cross. She is eleven, now and she is really beginning to show her age. Average lifespan for the breed is 12 to 15 years. If she is crossed with German Shepherd, as I suspect, that is going to be a bit shorter. She is having trouble holding her urine for as long as she used to. We are careful to get her out to pee frequently so that she doesn't have to wait too long. Problem is, as she gets older, she is drinking more and more water, more and more frequently and then she can't hold it all night and well... My poor broadloom suffers.

We are now restricting her water intake from about 9:00 on. And she hasn't had to relieve herself in the house, since. Poor baby girl. She feels so guilty when she pees in the house. And at first, she didn't understand why she couldn't have free and unfettered access to her water dish, as she is accustomed. But she is getting used to it and doesn't ask for water as much at night. I take her out one last time just before bed and I let her have a small drink so that she doesn't get dehydrated. But I still hate looking at her big, brown eyes asking me, "Why?" when I put her water up for the night.

I hate that my girl is getting old. I am so attached to her and dread the end. Sabryna is my Velcro Dog. She follows me all over the house, when I go outside without her, I come in to find her plastered against the wall in the room nearest to my outdoor location.

This Winter has been unusually warm. It is coldish at night, we get frost. But the days are mostly sunny and warm into the 50s and even 60s. Where did Winter go?

I must say I am looking forward to Spring, this year. I am dying to plant flowers. Dig in warm, right, loamy smelling earth, set baby plants, water and feed them and watch them grow, spread out and bloom. I don't grow food. I suck at growing food. Overall I have a very brown thumb. But there are a few varieties of outdoor flowers I can actually make thrive and look fabulous. And I get a kick out of it. I feel like such an Earth Goddess when I actually succeed in making something grow and produce bright, colourful blooms. :D

I need to get some indoor plants, too. I left my babies behind when I moved from Highland Pines into our condo. Somehow, they became infected with horrid little black flying bugs. And I didn't know how to get rid of them and I certainly wasn't going to bring them here, with me. I was heartbroken. My plants were beautiful and one philodendron I had had since my son was a toddler, when we lived in Bullhead City. I moved that poor thing several times and pampered and neglected it and my son used to beat the holy hell out of it with his baby blanket and rip it's leaves off.

At one point, it had died back to a tiny, withered stem and one wilted little leaf. I couldn't bear to let it go and I nursed it back and at it's most glorious, it has multiple long runners covered in leaves. Runners that measured from five to eight feet in length. I usually kept it trimmed back to about two to three feet, tho.

I have been eating quite well, the past few days. I am keeping a handwritten journal of my food intake. It really helps me keep on track. I had a rough couple of days, lost my focus at dinner time. And I went a little high, today. Close to 2000. But that is far fewer than necessary to maintain my current weight, so no harm done.

Reminder to self: Pretzels are a trigger food. Stay the hell away from them. Yes, one portion is low in calories and nearly fat free. Sadly, one portion isn't where I stop. So, pretzels need to go in the No Fly Zone for a time.

Other than the pretzels, tho... I am hanging pretty tough. :D And I am pleased. I don't even feel all that hungry. And when I do, I am trying to remember to ask myself if I am really hungry? Just peckish? Bored? Wanting to feed for the wrong reason? Thirsty, perhaps?

*sigh* It sucks. But it is doable. Others have done it. So, it is possible.

It just isn't as easy as "Put down the fork and stop eating too many 100 calorie packs." Every time I hear some self righteous twat (usually someone who has never battled with excess weight a day in her life) say that, I want to scream. Trust me, I wish it were that easy.
