For Autumn Leaves

Here is a photo of one of Patrick's paintings. He did this one in oils all in shades of blue with a little white. Needless to say, I love this painting. He did this when he was eleven. He did a few, I have a couple others, his grandparents have one as does his Aunt and Uncle. He hasn't painted since he was twelve. He did it for a while, loved it. Got over it and left it behind.

You can clickety click to enlarge it, if you are so inclined. I'll take pics of and post his other three paintings I have, in coming days.

FF, my hips and migraines are what they are. So are my stinking knees, for that matter. I got the okay to take NSAIDS with Lasix from my doc, so I am getting some relief and am more comfortable. My head... It is what it is. I have lived with it all of my life. I am used to it. I just like to bitch about it, from time to time. A little whine helps us to feel better, sometimes. lol

Hugs, Leafy One. I think you could use one.

Twix, thank you for dropping in and commenting. I don't own a bicycle. I am a walker. :D

I am battling a fear. It is a stupid one. And it is overwhelming me. I think that maybe I could get down on the floor. But it has literally been decades since I tried. And my knees are so awful (I can't even squat down without horrid pain) and I am so afraid to even try. I keep telling myself that I need to lose more weight before I can try. Which is the case. I am not even ready to attempt it. Not physically. Not even mentally.

Told you. Stupid.

Totally stupid. Irrational. Silly. One day, I will. One day I will be light enough, strong enough, have mental balls big enough to do it.

It is such a fucking weird thing, being so afraid to do something that everyone can do multiple times throughout their day without even thinking about it. Hell, I used to love sitting on the floor. I used to choose it, rather than taking a chair. I never gave it a second thought. Just gracefully sank down and popped back up. Now, I can't even bring myself to think about it. Obesity. It has taken so much from me. So many years. So many moments. So many mindless, lovely little things.

It isn't taking any more from me. I have futzed around for the past few months. Lost a little weight but mostly just made excuses and nattered about not a lot of anything. Whined about this, that and the other. And fucked around. Ten pounds or so in three months? Hardly impressive. Hardly what I thought I would achieve in this time.

Please don't think I am looking to be patted on the head and told it is okay. Because I am not. And it is not. I am just writing this out, here, as this is where I need to do it. I appreciate the chance to talk your ears off (so to speak) in this blog because I can't really talk about it here, IRL. My husband has a very limited tolerance for my whining and yammering on this subject. Sooo.. You all get barraged with it, instead. :P

Don't you just feel sooo honoured? :P

Time to open the blinds, windows and let in some fresh air, light and do a little housework. I might even make Pookey's bed for him. He slept late, jumped out of bed, threw on his work clothes and ran out the door and to his car without even stopping to pee, I think. I guess he forgot to set his alarm. I bet he doesn't forget, again. lol

Okay, I have to pee. All that water... In one end, out the other. Rapidly. lol

Later, gators.

And... Breathe!

Thank you for your comments, encouragement and understanding. I really felt the love and the care and it meant so much to me. I wanted to weep, reading your words. Thank you for giving them to me. I needed them so much. ***hugs all around!***

That walk was just what I needed. A fast, hard two miles on the trails out at the lake. Sometimes, I just need to expel some energy, get out, beat my bod up a little. Let my mind drift and breathe the fresh, crisp air and walk against the wind. I feel a little better. Clearer. And the extra exercise felt good, too. :D

It was chilly out there, today. I though it was a little warmer than it was. By the time we got out there, the sun was setting and the wind had freshened. The temps were in the forties, the wind made it feel colder. I swiftly regretted my short sleeved top. lol My poor forearms were cold and covered with goosebumps, my hands were red and cold. If we go tomorrow, and I hope we do, I will be sure to wear long sleeves and gloves. :D But I didn't let that deter me. I just walked and stomped and huffed and puffed and blew my mental house down.

On the way back, we were nearing the turn to go up to the car and the Western horizon was so beautiful. The sun had set behind what passes for mountains around here and the wisps of mares' tails were crisp white, molten silver and shades of pink, lavender and slate blue. Jet contrails were brilliant silver slashes across the faded, pale blue sky. The hills were purple, mauve and grey. The water in the lake was deep silver grey and ruffled by the wind. The surface covered with ducks, riding the tiny swells, paddling madly and bobbing their little heads below the surface, looking for their dinner.

I was so happy to get in the car! Boy was I cold. Between being too lightly dressed and sweaty, I was more than ready to get out of that wind. I slarked down my entire Sub Zero bottle (one quart, if I remember correctly) of water on the way home. When I got home, I get right into a hot shower. Boy, did it feel good. :D All warm and happy, I finished making dinner and enjoyed baked chicken, green beans and a light cauliflower cheese kind of dish inspired by a recipe I read on Lyn's blog. Nom, nom, nom. I need to further refine the cauliflower cheese recipe, but I think that with a little tweakage, I have hit on a winner. I'll post it, when I get it just right. It is surprisingly yummy, rich and low in calories. Total win. :D

I think I am going to sleep well, tonight. lol Two workouts have about done me in. But in a good way. I need to do this more often. :D

Okay, I am going to read new blog posts. I'll yap at you all, soon.

Holy Shit! I Have Been Blogging Here for a Year!

Today is my one year Blogoversary. :D

In that time I have lost a pile of weight. I have learned so much about myself, my heart, mind and what I really want for myself. I have finally learned how to get my head in what I am doing so that I can keep on keeping on. I have learned that I don't have a run clock, anymore. And I can continue. I don't have to quit. I don't want to quit.

I have met a pile of wonderful people. Diverse, funny, sharp, caring, silly, endearing, inspiring people. People who have an endless capacity to support, uplift and encourage and I have learned that I have that, as well. I doubt I would have discovered that, had I not decided to start this blog.

So raise your glasses, everyone. I want to thank each and every one of you for becoming a member of my circle. For being my peeps, my posse, my friends. I wouldn't have come this far without all of you!

Deep Breath In

Thank you so. Much for your comments. I read them over and over. I allowed your words, intentions and encouragement to teach and calm me. You all told me truths and gave me a lot to think about and digest. I don't know what I would do, where I would be, if not for you.

I had a much better day, today. Eating was good, right on track and I ended my day smack dab in the middle of my calorie target range; 1317 calories. I drank just over a gallon of water. Only one glass of Crystal Light. I love my Crystal Light but I think that I was just drinking too much of it. My bod needs water. That was proven, today. Putting that gallon down wasn't all that tough. It was as if my bod said, "Finally! Water! Just water! Woo hoo!" I am finishing my day with two clementines and a big mug of Celestial Seasonings Country Peach Tea. This tea is sooo yummy. If you like peach, I encourage you to try it. It tastes peachy and there is a natural sweetness, too. No sugar, sweetener or honey needed.

I am resolved to go back to what was working so well for me, earlier on. Not looking into the future, not dwelling ont he past. Just keeping my head down and looking at the ground directly in front of me. As Chris pointed out, the past is done. I can't change it. So, I need to just let go of it. The future isn't written. I can control where I go into that future. But, in my case, looking too far ahead freaks me out. So, I am going to KISS (Keep it Simple, Sweetheart) my way along. One step at a time. One day at a time.

Now to get my ass back in gear and out the door and up the road...

Okay, so I am one of those people. You know the people I am talking about. The ones who, when decorating for Christmas or any other occasion, like to hang shit from shit. I am particularly fond of hanging shit from my ceiling fan. As far as I am concerned, ceiling fans were invented to decorate that part of a room. And to be decorated. So, that is what I do. In my case, tinsel hanging from the blades, icicle ornaments hanging from the light and fan chains. Yes, indeedy.

That is what I call a ceiling fan. :D
And, because it makes me giggle, here it is in action:

I admit it. I am easily amused. :P

Okay, I am going to run along and read your blogs, now. Then I am going to get some more water *blurp* and go to bed.

Tagged

I was tagged by Kirsten to answer some questions. Why the fuck can't I turn off the bold? I keep clicking, it just does bold... So I am rolling with it and this entire entry will be bold. Stupid Blogger fucked up copy and paste bullshit. Bah!

So, I need to answer these four questions then pass on four questions.

So, here we go.  :D

Question #1: Do you think losing weight “this time” will be different? Why or why not?

I do think it will be different, this time. This time I have a better hold on the shit swirling through my head and heart. I am fighting with myself less and feel stronger and more confident about my run at it, this time around.  (And now, I am not typing in bold. *sigh* Blogger is seriously fucking with me. lol)

Question #2: What is your philosophy/personal experience with tattoos?

My philosophy is, it's your skin, do whatever the heck you want with it. I don't have any tattoos, but I haven't ruled out the possibility of getting one, one of these days.

Question #3: What’s your favorite ride at amusement parks and why?

Roller coasters. I have an extreme fear of heights and most rides freak me out. Weirdly enough, I feel safe on roller coasters.

Question #4: In what ways are you blessed and grateful today?

I am thankful to have a healthy family, a roof and employed husband and son. Life might not be easy street, but we are lucky and I know it.

Okay, now for four new questions. (Get ready for the lamest questions, ever. lol)

Question #1 If you could eat any food at all for 24 hours without gaining weight, what would it be?

Question #2  Briefly describe how you would re-write the life experience of your favourite character in a book or movie.

Question #3 What female family member has had the biggest positive influence on you and what was the most meaningful advice she gave you?

Question #4  If your blog were eaten by cyber roaches and gone for good, what would you do different in your new blog?

Okay, now to tag some victims participants. Hmmm...

My Lady Debbie :D

My Lady Kristin :D

My Lady Lapband :D

My Lady Leanne :D

If you have already been tagged, hate being tagged, have not time to be tagged, I'm sorry. :D But if you feel like playing, please answer them and pass on four new questions to four people.

Okay, I need to wrap this up. I have to pee like a racehorse and Husband is itching to get the laptop so he can check his e-mail. Should I let him? ^^

A Call for Support

Troops, Sunshine, a fellow blogger could really use a hug, right now. If you have a moment, could you go and drop her a comment of support, or leave her a hug or two?

Thank you. <3

Everybody Loves a Freebie

I know that I do. Especially if that freebie might just help make getting my two quarts of water a day down my piehole a little more easy. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't mind water. But I like a little flavour even better. And I very much enjoy a hint of lemon. Which is what True Lemon offers. A little lemon for your water, tea or whatever. In convenient take with you packets to tuck into your handbag or pocket or a desk drawer.

I have been meaning to buy and try this stuff but I keep forgetting to grab it when I am at the store. So, imagine my delight when I clicked on Jen's blog and saw a link for a FREE SAMPLE! Now I can try it out before I buy. And so can you. Go ahead. Click the link. You know that you want to.

In other news, in spite of my roller coaster, waaahhh, poor little me, pissy brat, puff monster week, I got on my scale this morning. Puffy legs and all and had a drop of .6 pound. Not stellar, but it was a drop, not a bounce and that was in spite of my puff. I am grateful. And I know that fat has gone bye-bye, since I weight less, even with my bloaty-ness. :)

My attitude seems to be better. I feel more optimistic, this morning. The dark cloud that was hovering over me and pulling my mood down and screwing with my head seems to be clearing out and I am not so whiny, down on myself and pessimistic. I still have some more work to do but I am in a better place.

Support. It works.

And it is here, for all of us. All we have to do is ask.

I am so glad that I asked.

And that I can be here when someone else does so.

It is cold, this morning. It was 30 degrees, when I got out of bed. The temp has climbed to 33. But it is supposed to be sunny and 71 degrees, for a high, today. My cat is blissing out in front of my fireplace. He sure does like to soak up the warm.

Okay, I need another cup of crack coffee. And I think I will go read up on new entries in my blogroll and see what you are all up to, this fine morning.

Later, gators.

A Great Walk, Tonight

Well, tonight was our first walk on Willow Creek Road on the sidewalk. I have to say, I really liked it. The sidewalk is smooth and even, there are streetlights so the entire way is well lit and feels safe. We walked from the Fry's parking lot to the Circle K. It is just a little over a mile, one way. About a mile and a tenth, but I don't quibble over tenths so, I just call it a mile up and a mile back for a total of two.

The walk up is literally up. It is uphill, all the way. The climb is gradual and long, it isn't as if we are struggling up a steep, hard climb. But I can definitely feel it. I am nicely challenged but not made to feel as if I am working too hard. Then, we turn and burn back and it is all downhill. It's nice and easy and I can really put the pedal to the metal and put on some speed.

My only complaint about walking this way is all of the exhaust from the cars. Willow Creek Road is a main drag through Prescott and has pretty heavy traffic. By the time we got back to the car, I had an irritated throat and was coughing. It took a while for the coughing to stop. My throat is still a little unhappy. I need to carry water with me and drink, while I walk. I expect  that in time I'll get used to it.

I didn't binge. Calories are good at 1500 and a little change. Not too bad for a day I feared was going to be really. really. baaaad. :D And yes, I credit you all, your support and your blogs for helping to pull me through this day. I would be in trouble without all of you.

Well, I am tired and blogged out. I think I will catch up on unread blogs and call it a night.

Goodnight, my friends. Sleep well and have sweet dreams. And if you are weighing in the morning, I hope it is gooood.

Should I or Shouldn't I?

Thank you all for your encouragement and congratulations. It makes me feel so good and really helps keep me going strong. You are all heroes on my odyssey. *muah*

Hints that I should run a challenge. Hmmm... I'll have to give that some thought. Honestly, I am a terrible event organizer but I might. We'll see how things shape up. If I do, it will have to be Fall and Winter themed. And a long run, too. Like from the first of Autumn to New Year, or something. Let me think about it a bit more, if I do this, I will need to get it together pretty quickly, since the first day of Fall is in about 24? days.

I think about Fall but it is still very much Summer, here. Ugh! Heat. Humidity. Gross. Seriously. I am so over the heat. I am longing for cool, brisk days, fresh breezes, crisp, red apples, pumpkins and sweaters. I want to put comforters on the beds and curl up by my fireplace with a good book and a big old mug of something hot. It would be lovely to walk on a cool day with a bright, clear sky and the soft scent of woodsmoke from fireplaces and wood stoves scenting the air.

We got a major rainstorm, yesterday and ti rained last night, again and the ground at the lake was moosh. Hopefully it will be walkable, tomorrow. Husband won't walk along Willow Creek on the sidewalk, for some reason. *rolling my eyes* My hips are getting a good rest, tho and are feeling a good deal better. Too bad I can't say the same for my frakking head. I brushed my teeth, using my battery powered sonic type brush and instantly my head started pounding. Bad. I wonder if vibration is a trigger for me? I'll have to take note, before i brush, tonight and see if I ramp up and really start banging, again.

Food is on track, today. I had a can of Progresso Light clam chowder for lunch with some mini Saltines. 340 calories all together and worth every one! I am a chowder lover from way back and it is one thing I have really been missing. The Progresso is pretty good. Not stand a spoon in it thick, but it is fairly creamy. There are clams and potatoes and celery, too. I am a notorious soup doctoring fool, I never eat soup as it comes from the can. This chowder benefited from a little Tabasco, some buttery spray (oh, yeah... I was definitely a chowder and butter girl) and fresh cracked black pepper. These additions just jazzed it up and made me that much happier. You don't have to do these things... This soup actually is pretty nice, on it's own. And can hold over this chowder lover from diving into the too thick, rich, calorie bomb real stuff. :D

Well, I must run. I have towels to fold and darks to toss in my dryer and delicates to run through the wash. *sigh* Laundry day.  I don't really mind doing laundry, most days. It is making me a little nuts, today.

Okay... I'm going, now.

Later, gators! <3

Thank you, Midori!

Midori tagged me for an award and I am grateful. Thank you so much! <3<3

I need to share ten things about me, then tag a few people to receive this.

Ten things about me:

I love Autumn. I mean seriously love it. If there were a place on Earth where it was Autumn all the time, I would be there. lol

I love to swim but I haven't been in a pool since the mid eighties.

I used to dream that I could fly. After I got involved with my husband, those dreams stopped.

I can feel shifts in seasons and weather.
I know when my mother is going to call me. I start thinking about her like crazy and when the phone rings, I know that it is she.
I am a serious handbag ho and my one Dooney is my pride and joy. It's not really a status thing, with me. I just love really nice bags. If a bag is beautiful, made well and of good materials, I will covet it, "brand" or not. And the only thing that prevents me from having a closet full of them is my pathetically tight budget. lol

I am addicted to Ice Road Truckers on the History channel.

I think that Family Feud is about the most stupid waste of time bullshit TV show... EVAH!!!!!

I hate Westerns with a driving passion that can't be believed.
I think that coffee is the nectar of the gods.

I am passing this along to:

And

Seriously, I could go on and on, because I think that you are all Sugar Dolls. *Muah*

Let's Give Them Some Love, Folks

PhatinPhx is a blogger who recently commented to one of my entries. I checked out her blog and methinks she could use some bloggy love and support. So, please pop over, follow and let's draw her into the community. :D

Also, Kristen at Kreating Kristen (formerly The Fat Chick Weigh) is having a really bad go of it. Please go and give her some support, hugs and uplift her?

Today is sucking ass for me. Not food wise. That is good. I find that recovery from a higher calorie day isn't the big, scary, hairy deal it used to be for me. It isn't my head. That is behaving fairly well. My headache is sticking to the background for the most part. No... It is my frakking hip. It is bad. I am trying to stay as quiet as I can, move slowly and genlty and try to keep my weight off it as much as I can and I am going to rest it, today. Hopefully these measures will get me back to somewhat normal, tomorrow. Bleargh! I am getting tired of this shit.

Thunderstorms are rolling in, the humidity is rapidly rising and a flash flood alert just came down from the NWS in Flagstaff. We might be in for a bit of rock and roll. This Monsoon Season has been a bit of a bust, so far. What storms we have had haven't been much to write home about. I would like to see us get at least one really good banger and crasher before the season ends. In preparation, I gave my grill a cleaning and tucked it in under it's plastic.

I have itchy spots all over, from my face to my feet. I am getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. The little bastards have decided that I am a tasty dactyl. The itching is driving me insane. I am trying not to scratch the bites on my face but sometimes I just can't stand not to. We don't normally have mosquitoes around here, some jackwagon must have some standing water around their house. And I know that some of them are from going out to the lake. Ugh! I haven't had mosquito bites in years and I am not enjoying them, one little bit.

Shit! I think that one of those little fuckers got me on my ear lobe! Waaahhh!

It looks like a pretty day in Chicago. The Cubbies are beating the Braves. For now. Go, Cubs, Go!

Someone Needs a Hug

Dearest readers, if you haven't popped by Drazil's blog yet today, could you drop by, read her latest entry and give her a big hug? Methinks she could really use it, right about now.
